The fact of Covid-19 has shocked the world. It proves that the various wars belong development process. The global economies are suddenly rapidly down. Especially, global tourism value chain is firstly damaged. The joblessness in tourism is unexpectedly growing up about 100 million of under-employment or unemployment. Part of the world goes into extremely poor under $1/day income. At the early stage of pandemic, the measures of travel restrictions of countries and territories suddenly stopped the rapid growth of aviation sector. Hundreds of flights are at their grounds. Big airline brands have been collapsed from countries to countries. All negative impacts of the pandemic lead to the so-called bankruptcy.
However, the bright signal is happened immediately when new normal is back with a huge of tourist demands that are trapped at home during travel restrictions. A short term of closing to reduce cost is temporary. Tourism sectors now are reforming and restructuring their organizations. Partnerships are continuously conducted. Target markets also determined. Financial relief is going to be conducted. They are addressed by aviation sector with new normal status. Followings are key samples of the airline recovery.
The International Air Transport Association (IATA)
Airports Council International (ACI) World and the International Air Transport Association (IATA) have called on governments to ensure any new measures introduced for airports and airlines in the wake of COVID-19 are supported by scientific evidence and are consistent across the world. The roof policy is the pathway for restarting the aviation industry – Safely Restarting Aviation – ACI and IATA Joint Approach. Airlines and airports have cooperated to build a roadmap for resuming operations which reassures the travelling public that health and safety remain the overall priorities.
Emirates Airline
Emirates airline restarted regular passenger flights from Dubai International to nine destinations with a series of new safety procedures from May 21 to London Heathrow, Frankfurt, Paris, Milan, Madrid, Chicago, Toronto, Sydney and Melbourne. The airline will also offer connections in Dubai for customers travelling between the UK and Australia.
Those travelling are required to wear the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and arrive at the airport four hours before their flight (but not more than four hours prior to flight time) to allow time for additional security measures. In order to maintain public safety and social distancing requirements, travelers without confirmed tickets, passengers without proper PPE, and passengers who arrive to the airport earlier than four hours before their scheduled departure time will not be permitted to enter the terminal buildings.
Staggered boarding, cleaning of toilets, health declaration forms, complimentary hygiene kits, transit passengers, crew safety, risk reduction are all measures that make the airline confident backing to race.
Thai Airways
Behind bankruptcy is a new stronger recovery. According to Thailand’s bankruptcy law, it covers both bankruptcy and rehabilitation proceedings. The national flag carrier acknowledged its fate under the Bankruptcy Act. “Thai Airways International is committed to doing everything possible to emerge from the crisis situation,” said Chakkrit Parapuntakul, second vice chairman and acting president. “This is an important step for Thai Airways International to change in order to become a stronger and more sustainable entity. “The prime minister has stressed the need to make the public understand that this is not about entering bankruptcy, but undergoing a process of rehabilitation.
India Airline
After allowing trains to run in limited numbers, the Indian government is reportedly planning to let airline flights restart, while the country continues its fight against the Covid-19 pandemic. The civil aviation ministry has produced an elaborate draft standard operating procedure to be followed while restarting commercial flights. Passengers will have to check-in via the internet, fill in a detailed questionnaire related to the coronavirus and reach the airport at least two hours before departure. They will not be allowed to carry cabin baggage. In case a passenger is not allowed to travel because of a high temperature or age, he or she should not be permitted to change the date of their travel without penalty and airlines would have to maintain their records. Airports should have isolation zones in their terminals for such passengers. Inside the aircraft, three rows of seats will be kept vacant for isolating any passenger who has a medical emergency on board. Interestingly, the document does not mention leaving the middle seat of the aircraft vacant for social-distancing.
Briefly, the gradual recovery of tourism through its sectors has restructured the world in new order. In some countries, for instance New Zealand, reopening policy with 4 days of working per week, to encourage tourism growing again. The domestic consumption firstly activates social activities. Employment is solved step by step. The active world will be back soon and the pandemic is temporary disturbance. A bankruptcy is positively rethought as new stage of development, in which the aviation industry is one of good examples
